The Keysight N7785C is a high-speed synchronous scrambler that can repeatedly switch a range of polarization states (SOP) through input and output trigger functions. The instrument has comprehensive polarization control and management capabilities with wavelength options covering the full CWDM wavelength range. Its <10 µs SOP cycle time and rugged design with no moving optics make it particularly suitable for a variety of applications.
The N7785C supports multiple modes of operation:
· Synchronous scrambler: An SOP that switches the output signal through a (pseudo-) random but repeatable code pattern with a switching time of just a few microseconds. The SOP remains stable for a predefined period of time until switching to the new SOP. The scrambler is kept in sync with external events through an electronically triggered input.
· SOP switch: Can quickly and repeatably switch the internal wave plate to a user-defined Angle.
· Traditional scrambler: Random walk code type smoothly changes the output SOP.
· Polarization stabilizer: Using feedback and external references, the SOP is set and stabilized by program commands.
